elanamatic: Mr. & Mrs.
Errr.. I haven't updated in a few days because my insides are still aching from last week's crushing blow. It just doesn't make sense. It's also one of the first times the dude and I have felt attacked as a couple. We did our best to make peace but have not heard peep from the other side of the border. I am sad.
As to my the heading of this entry, well it is inspired by Lisa ;-)
Also, I have finally learned to say the word husband out loud. I follow it with a bunch of bleeps and sputters but I am getting there. Anyhow Lisa, I too relish the domesticity that comes with being a long-term couple. In my case though, we have a total role reversal. I buy the groceries, but that is because I a) have the car and b) try to make my lunches cos the stuff they serve at our work caf is icky poo. The dude on the other hand does most of the cooking, cleaning, laundry, decorating etc.. I wear the pants, pay the bills and remind him to take out the garbage.
It's interesting to observe how the division of labour plays out over time. He is terrible at any kind of planning. He never remembers any upcoming events and is so insanely non-committal when it comes to making plans with friends etc.. It drives me nuts. Meanwhile I am an organzing freak. If I see a tiny window with some time, I try to fill in the cracks until there is no more room for me to breathe. It's bizarre.
Lately though, married life has seemed a bit mundane. Too much TV and not enough everything else is wearing me down. Much as I try to avoid it, I understand how the potatoes end up on the couch - we both have such exhausting days with work, the gym, personal projects, friends and learning, by the time we find an hour or two to spare, we are so worn out that we can hardly communicate beyond the occasional grunt. Life in the Tdot is all work, little play. It's sucky bum bum.
This is not to say we don't enjoy our finer moments. Things really perk up on the weekend, but during the week by the time I get home, everything aches from my head to my toes. Unfortunately, TV does not ease the pain, it might numb it, but mostly it just leaves me feeling cold and tired. So here I am. Typing to you. My dear dear fellow robots, most of whom I've have yet to meet in person...
I keep coming to the conclusion that maybe I should start drinking more regularly?
