The extra bonus part of my new 'life o' leisure' is that I have no work commitments. As such, I am indulging in the all the tag-along activities I can. The dude was invited to speak at the Interactive Screen conference at the Banff Media Center. (I would add links but this friggin' machine won't let you open multiple windows, nevermind that it costs $2 for 10 mins!)
He then extended an invite to me to not only tag along, but also spend a day at the Fairmount Banff Springs Hotel Spa tomorrow. It was kind of a combined bday/1 year still married kinda gift. I feel so spoiled!
It hasn't even been 24 hours and it's already been incredible. It's the Calgary Stampede this week so the airport was all hicked out. From the rodeo gear to the wagon wheels. I half expected someone to lasso my suitcase at the baggage claim.
We met a friend of the dude's on the shuttle up to Banff. Nothing like rousing media discourse to get me up and going. No really, I eat that shit up for breakfast.
Great chatting plus beautiful scenery and the joy that is being on vacation makes for a very happy 'lana.
I am about to go on a hike up Sulfur mountain and then take the gondola into town. I looked into a white water rafting trip for this aft but it was sold out.
Oh and did I mention the view from our fancy pants hotel? It's spectacular! Or shall I say Banfftastic? Majestic mountains covered in pine trees, sweet smelling air.. There are hot springs near by. I hope we go check 'em out tonight. I am loving Canada so much I want to hug it!
