elanamatic: The Enchanted Broccoli Forest
(This post is in response to yesterday's bevvy of Moosewood comments)
Having heard earthy and veggie types sing the praises of The Moosewood cookbooks, I bought The Enchanted Broccoli Forest a couple of years back. I am not a vegetarian but I was drawn in by the title: Enchanted Forests? Broccoli? How could I go wrong?
I have yet to make even one dish listed on it's pages. I hate recipe books that call for ingredients I rarely have on hand or that require too much time to make. I admit, I like my meals like I like my men: tasty and quick on the uptake. (Ok well, the crush girl in me must admit that I am sucker for the chase but I digress..)
I like my recipes to be healthy, quick and easy but to taste like I spent hours.
Ok - as an aside I just have to rant about the dudes with the cellphones in the office. Lower the volume of your fuckin' alerts! No matter how many times I hear the beeping, I still don't believe you to be popular. There is just no way! Fuck. The only person text messaging you is probably your mom wanting to know when you will be home for dinner. I know it and you know it, so GET OVER IT.
I too am a cellphone user. I hate talking on the phone, but that's a seperate issue. I enjoy having a mobile phone, it's convenient and suits a defined purpose. It's my choice to answer it. I will also admit to loading my phone with catchy ringtones. However, I try to be very conscious as to the VOLUME of my RINGER. Enough said.
