elanamatic: The beauty and the geek
The planet, she is doomed.
I cannot believe this show is being created. It has my feminist panties in a tight twist. Sure, I know that in the media world we women are seen as pretty on the eyes, light on the intellect. While I can accept that assumption in a show about being a top model or an eligible bachelor, I draw the line at this latest development.
At least in those other reality shows you can count on one or two of the women to have a thought or two knocking around in their finely groomed heads. Coming right out and referring to the contestants as being "academically impaired" really pisses me off. It's just further reinforcing old sociology stereotypes that women trade up their beauty and men offer brains or money (assumedly earned via their genius) in return. It sickens me.
That this show is the brain-child of Ashton Kutcher, only further frustrates me as according to his theory, he is should be preceived as nothing more than a dumb twit cos he's got the look.
Argh. I think I am becoming even less articulate as I type and more curvy and stoopid. Clearly the time has come to plot Kutcher's demise. I might have thought he was cute on That 70's Show and I laughed my ass off at some of the bits on Punk'd but both he and Demi deserve to be swallowed up whole by a big gap in a Hollywood sidewalk.
PS. I also blame those two for the current Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes mediaganza.
