sunshine jen: 2004: Recapped, Listed, Kaput
At the end of every year between Christmas and New Years, we seem to get a lot of Best Of lists and Recaps of the year. Every paper and magazine wants to summarize the year in its own special way.
In the course of a year, all this stuff happened. Look at all the stuff that happened in this year. This year, there was a lot of stuff---random and unconnected at the time but now connected because it all happened in a defined space of time. There is now order where there was no order. We can file away the chaos in a year. THAT was 2004 and so was THAT and THAT.
Was it all just disasters and triumphs? Personalities and new ideas? Isn't that the stuff of every year? What does all this stuff say about us as a planet? Who are we? Where are we going? Where have we been? Just what was 2004 all about?
Because I have to jump up and down and shout "me too!", I'm sprinkling in my own 2004 Recap to the stew. So here it is. 2004. Woohoo!
