Art Colony: Kidz books and Kidz TV--word!

This post is really random--I'm just being nostalgic today, I guess:
When I was really little, my mom would wash comforters and sheets in the summer and hang them outside on a clothesline to dry in the sun (to this day, I love the idea of drying clothes outside--I wish we could, except we don't have anyplace safe to hang things up in. Damn!) i'd run under and in the tunnels created by the comforters and blankets and imagine that I was going, Narnia-blanket-style, into another world.
Things that I loved as a kid that I would totally recommend that adults pass on to any nearby children whom they may influence: The Detective Mole books are totally awesome. Also anything by Graeme Base (*Biff grew up enjoying Graeme Base's books as well), the impossible-to-find GEMS of Graham Oakley (there's a reason why his books are so expensive--it's because the illustrations are HILARIOUS), and the totally awesome tale of Anansi. Also, the kid's TV nowadays sucks. Back in the late 1980's-early 1990's, due to increased regulations and the fact that public television probably just had more money, there were shows for kids like Ghostwriter and that movie series Wonderworks whose "Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe" series may have had weak special effects, but strong acting & beautiful music, and Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?.
But ANYWAYS... sorry about all the nostalgic rambling. Robert is headed to New York City today--congrats, Robert!--and he promised to bring me back a fun, kitschy little souvenir. Tonight is the MC Chris concert, so I'm pumped about that... Biff is doing tons of laundry today, so that's really sweet of him... And the heat is kind've calming down. it was so hot last night it was like being in Guatamala or something--if a gigantic Bird-eating spider had started crawling up my leg as I used a machete to clear my way through dense jungle...well, i wouldn't have been surprised considering the heat and humidity.
