Cootie Girl: injections, genital blocking, coincidence and Orangemen
7.13.2004
Saturday I got an injection of Cortisone in the heel of my left foot because apparently I have not been taking care of my feet like I thought I was. I have developed a heel spur which is very painful (if you never had one). Apparently it is similar to a Plantar Fasciitis or at least it's treated the same way, stretches in the morning, ice in the evening, some arch support and a good pair of shoes and sneakers (and a shot of Cortisone to make it all better). I go back for a follow up next Saturday I hope I get a 2nd shot - woo hoo!
After my not so fun early afternoon visit to the Podiatrist, I took a 3 hour nap and got ready to go out and meet my friends Zori & Pat out for some drinks and big 80's tunes. After a few we realized that we genital block each other in the worst way. Do you have friends like this? Some how subconsciously you can't see them with anyone else (or maybe when you are hanging out with them you can't let them talk to anyone of the opposite sex) so anytime you are out and they attempt to talk to someone that is not you, you feel the need to jump in the conversation or not let them get to know any new people. For men to do this is usually called cock blocking right, so does that mean when it's done to a woman its vagina blocking? Well CB's or VB's are no fun ... remember kids when you are out with longtime friends don't hate, let them appreciate. Instead of blocking become a wingman you may meet someone yourself. And don't worry your friends won't abandon you when they are dating these other people, they will just call you to complain about them later.
So for my weird Monday morning coincidence on my way to work I was sitting on the train minding my business knitting when a woman took a seat two people away from me. Not only was she also knitting she had the same bag as I did. Now you are thinking big deal many woman have the same ginormus black bags but this is different, we both had Spapa's Thompson's Daily Pizza bag. She had the backpack version where I had the tote. Freaky right -ok maybe if you saw the bag you might think it's a bit odd.
Finally, today is my cousins birthday (well it was on the 12th) and it falls on the same day as the Orangemen Parade in Northern Ireland. My cousin is from Ireland (the Republic) and is catholic so this day is not the best of days to celebrate in Ireland unless you are protestant and living in the north - then you can party it up. She is over there at the moment visiting the family. I tried to call her today but didn't get to talk to her directly. I hope she is enjoying a pint or two at McNally's with the gang. Since it's Monday and I have no drink here I am listening to our favorite song - "All Together Now" by The Farm. Happy Birthday Cousin!
