Cootie Girl: So Fucking AWESOME!
5.6.2005
I went to see New Order last night LIVE in concert. Remember them from the 80's? They have a new album out now and the only reason I know about it is because I saw them promoting it on that show The Alternative on VH1 Classics. The emails started circulating a few weeks ago about the tickets going on-sale. I was like yeah I might be interested AS IF New Order toured all the time or that I saw them so many times back in the day like I did The Cure or Depeche Mode. Sean and Sangeeta were all over the slew of emails on the ticket pre-sale, which by the time I got on the ball I had missed out. My second chance to get tickets came and again by the time I got to check for them the show was sold out. I am still not sure why I was like it's no big deal if I see them or not. Sean had bought two tickets and so did Sangeeta but her 2nd was promised to someone else. So that left Sean's second ticket for either Oliver or me. Luckily the stars were aligned and there was a fourth ticket come Monday night and I was able to go. I found out last night they were only doing a 4 or 5 city tour this time around so I felt extra special that I was there.
Now every time I go to a concert I usually pick a song that I might not have heard in a long time or that I just really want to see them perform live. Last night's song was Love Vigilantes and you know what that is what they opened with!!!! They also played a bunch of Joy Divisions songs including my all time favorite Atmosphere. I was in awe and the show just plain ROCKED even the new songs blended in nicely with the old. My only criticism is that Bernard should try and get his voice a little lower when he sings the Joy Division songs because they just don't sound the same with his soft playful boyish voice. I can't believe it has been 25 years since Ian died; it doesn't seem so long ago.
After the show I called Tisha because she was out with co-workers celebrating Cinco de Mayo and I would have met up with them had they still been out but they weren't this is how the conversations went ....
ME: hey the show is over are you still out?
TISHA: no we are at a dinner near 17th street. How was the show?
ME: it was FUCKING AWESOME! (then I passed the phone around and asked)
ME to Sean: How was the show Sean?
SEAN: IT WAS SO FUCKING AWESOME!
ME to Oliver: How was the show Oliver?
OLIVER: IT WAS SO FUCKING AWESOME!
ME to Sangeeta: How was the show Sangeeta?
SANGEETA: IT WAS SO FUCKING AWESOME!
ME: yeah it was SO FUCKING AWESOME! I'm gonna go home now. Talk to you tomorrow.
(Tisha's hangs up and talks to co-worker)
CO-WORKER: So did Kelly like the show.
TISHA: no she hated it, can you please pass the pepper.
