Cootie Girl: all hail the computer geek gods
5.23.2005
Can someone please recommend to me a PC computer to buy for home use?
The one I have is now 4-year-old Dell with a Pentium 3 processor. I have had a few problems with it but they were due to my own stupidity. I had to re-install the entire system when I accidentally deleted some file I needed and didn't know what I was deleting (apparently it was a certain file I need to run the whole machine - cé la vie). Then there was that whole thing with the pop up spam virus that nearly drove me off the rails. Oh and lets not forget when my monitor blew out or that time my speakers blew out. But I got through those times and me and my computer where happy. Sure he still had some problems - I mean that CD Burner drive never quite recovered from that re-install and well I sort of overlooked that he couldn't play DVD's. I didn't even mind when he skipped some of my favorite songs when installing them on iTunes. He worked when I needed him and that was all that mattered. I even protected him as much as I could running 5 different spam/viris blockers and installing a password entry code. None of this worked however once my sister got her hands on my machine.
Michelle and Bubba (yeah that is his name don't make fun of him) never got along very well. Michelle is all about the MAC and well not too PC savvy. She didn't understand all of bubba's security passes and access codes. She quickly got frustrated with all the questions that Bubba kept asking and well I wasn't there to watch over him. I know she did something malicious because Bubba won't let me even take a look and see if I can fix whatever she did. I came home to find her MAC plugged into my internet and printer and poor Bubba was just sitting there rejected. Michelle swears she didn't do anything but I know better. I called Tech support and talked to my new friend Carlos in Panama City. I kept getting a CMOS/NPVG Checksum Error then a CMOS Date/Time error. Carlos suggested that I change the internal battery on Bubba, reset his clock and see if that works. I was all annoyed to have to shell out more money on Bubba as I just got him a new monitor and spy ware programs I thought he was getting spoiled. To my surprise the battery only cost a dollar. I changed that last night and before turning the machine on said if this doesn't work I am just going to get myself a new computer. Surprise surprise Bubba was not responding.
Now I haven't told Bubba that I am replacing him yet. I mean it has been 4 years so I am sure there is better technology out there by now he should understand. But then again he won't even let me in to see if I can help him. I hate to be so cruel but it's time to move on. I need a new man in my life I just don't want him to be a big clunky flashy 'bells and whistle" kind of guy. I need a strong sturdy multitasking machine that can handle all my wishes.
Oh and I like to stay in the PC family, I work on a MAC all day I don't want to go home to one at night. I like variety you know - what girl doesn't?
