Cootie Girl: just shut the fuck up already!
7.29.2005
OK I know the cell phone is the greatest invention since sliced bread but I really don't need to hear 1/2 of your conversation lady. Yeah you over there across from me on the bus can you please keep it down or better yet shut the fuck up. And you lady right behind me talking so loud that I can feel your breath on the back of my neck - shut it! Tell you brat to stop crying too.
I have been taking the bus home because I want some time to unwind from work. I use this hour to either get caught up on my knitting, read or even just stare out onto the street passing by. I do not appreciate the fact that people (mostly ladies on my route) take this time to make all of their phone calls and talk as if they were on a Graham Bell original. Buses are relatively small so I hear everything from their personal hygiene problems to their problems with their families and or friends. Sometimes these conversations are in Spanish and I am so distracted that I end up trying to see if I can tell what they are talking about. It really is annoying and doesn't help me "unwind" from my shitty day at work. I always have at least one person on the bus speaking too loudly at most I had 6.
This doesn't just happen on my ride home at the end of the day. These distractions happen on my morning commute when I am dreading the up coming workday. No one is happy in the morning so it seems on my train and it is most annoying when you have loud groups of people who talk as if they were the only people in the car. Can you shut the fuck up already? Now I know the subway or the bus is in no way like a library where everyone respects the rules and keeps conversations to a low whisper. I just wish people would.
Now I am not perfect, I know I have been guilty myself of talking on the cell phone but at least I try to limit my conversations and speak in a low to normal volume. It seems everyone is walking around with his or her phones glued to their ears nowadays and frankly I am quite sick of it. Is it just me? Does anyone else think there should be courtesy laws that all should follow? I don't want to hear your personal conversation now shut the fuck up already!
