elanamatic: Project Purge
We decided to take advantage of the cloudy skies to cast out all the junk we've collected over the years. Since moving out from my parents house, I rarely stayed in one place longer than a year until now and it's just amazing how things pile up. Still, clothing aside, most of the crap we've amassed consists of kitschy gifts from friends. Good for a laugh but not much else. It's all well intentioned of course and I love giving gifts to people, but we owe the planet to be more conscientious.
Clearing out spaces is oddly satisfying and I am getting really into it, there is still a ton to do but we'll manage. I think it also feels good to be a homebody after being on the go for so long. Can anyone recommend a cause/charity that is in need and will come by to pick up our castoffs?
In other news, 'arry Potter is threatening to ruin our marriage. The dude is obsessed. His mom bought us a copy before we left to Thailand. He wanted to bring it along, but I advised against it, it would've been the heaviest thing in his pack. Irony of it is, we spotted tourists all over Thailand with their nose deep in the thick of it. As soon as we got home, he started in on it and it's been a real challenge trying to lure him away. He's entranced. The other day, I caught him reading it while walking down the street on his way back from the subway. I've had to rely on some heavy duty mojo to get him to put it down.
Then I figured, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. I never read the fourth book because I had overdosed on the series when I read the first three stories back to back a couple of years ago. So, I succumbed and started reading. The problem is, the book is so heavy and awkward yet terribly addictive that I can't put it down and now my neck is suffering and I have very little movement. I wish I new a magic spell!
