elanamatic: Heavy Rotation
After a couple months free of life in "The Biz", I am falling in love with music all over again. It feels sooo good to be back. Spent some time this evening going through my massive collection. Purging tons of crap, it's incredibly liberating! Saying goodbye to dated electronica compilations, one-hit-wonders and the soundtracks to summers past, saves me some face next time a music-savvy friend comes by. It also allows me to find some of my faves that have been buried amidst the mediocre.
Back in the day, before the dude and I merged our collection, I had a little more control over my albums. Everything was organized, CDs in cases etc.. These days, you are lucky to open a case and find it pregnant with CD, even more rare is finding an album in it's own case.
When the merger took place we had a ton of doubles (ie. All the usual suspects like The Beastie Boys, Bjork, Beck, Radiohead..) We used to keep them in the basement, case we wanted some tunes while hanging down there.
As of this moment they are sitting in a box along with a couple hundred others, ready to be sold/traded in. I am salivating thinking about all the new albums I can buy.
This summer's heavy rotation list includes:
Jay-Z - The Black Album
The Shins - Chutes Too Narrow
Feist (props to Pony!)
Franz Ferdinand
Modest Mouse - Good News.. & The Moon and Antaritica
The Roots - The Tipping Point
Lost In Translation sdtk
and more...
Anyone care to recommend some new must-haves? My ears are thirsty!
