before computers. i mean, what did one do when they were at work all day long? i had a job right out of college for about six months where i didn't have a computer and i can honestly say i did A LOT of doodling. and covert reading - you know, laying out the "big proposal" on your desk and then having a book in your lap. ah, yes, i did that many a time.
now, the only way i get through work is baby steps. like i'll say "okay, if i do 30 minutes of work, i can look to see if anyone has posted anything new to happyrobot" and thus, my day goes. it's the only way i can get through.
