I know that Nutshell has been a little all over the map lately; that is has been a bit of a rainy season of the mind over here - but I just have to go on about this. Please read my last post, "Collectible Glasses", in conjunction with this, because there really is a connection and that is a lot less of a hysterical diatribe.
How is it that Columbine was a national obsession for two weeks (at least) and topic of 24 hours per day of CNN's precious (written with venom) coverage, from Wolf f***ing Blitzer to Larry f***ing King? Now we are looking at a shooting on the Red Lake Reservation in Minnesota that has left 10 dead and 13 wounded - a crime every bit as horrible as Columbine (more so to my eyes, since Littleton is suburban sprawl and Red Lake has about 5,000 people). Where's the shock and outrage? Where's the two days of on-the-scene coverage?
What's the real question here? I'm not sure, but I'm betting it begins with an "rac" and ends with a "ism." Sorry. This has no subtlety or eloquence. I'm just pissed off and sad.
