Yes. I was innocently standing in the elevator, unawares. And yes, I was politely TOLD to get out of my properly secured elevator by this well-dressed tall drink of water. And yes, he and his fraternal tall-dark-and handsome twin smilingly made me get back out while yes, Lynne Cheney stepped into MY elevator without a word of thanks.
Now I have long admired the Cheneys for their stance on the proper use of poor people and their proposed program of mocking/scolding everyone that does not have dinner with them on a regular basis. However, this woman crossed a line here!
I understand not wanting to be in the elevator with a shifty character like myself. Imagine the rumors if the press found out! However, would an extra 20-30 second wait really have put her at risk? And if it did, is the death of the Second Lady really a matter of 'National Security?"
I'll leave it to you.
Also, it seems to me that Pr. Bush wants us not to jump to conclusions concerning K. Roves's role in a major intelligence leak. It also seems that there is more direct evidence linking Rove to the leak than there was concerning uranium in Africa or WMDs in Iraq. Has the president finally learned the value of NOT jumping to conclusions? Perhaps he is right. Perhaps thousands dead and injured due to a jumped conclusion is enough. Perhaps the idea of Rove having to work in the private sector for a change is too horrible of a fate for the American people to risk. Then again, I am sure Rove would be welcome as a contractor in HIS Iraq. I am also sure that certain insurgent kidnappers would appreciate a high-bounty target like K. Rove. It may be just the kick in the pants this country needs to get out of this war...or to REALLY get on with it. Either way, I'm sure that Mr. Rove, patriot that he is, would welcome the opportunity to make up for what was a greivous (though not criminal, probably) error by spending some time in Baghdad, acting as a proper decoy. I am sure we could find SOMEONE willing to leak info, subtly of course, as to where his exact location is at all times.
It should happen soon. Don't fire Rove, just send him out *ahem* covertly.
PS - the little 'news' story about the bear who knocks on doors scared the socks right off of me. My most dreaded nemesis come to look for me in a Croatian cupboard.
