All these smart people getting laid off! First Joey now Rich. And the thread they held in common was that they were both the heart of their companies to a certain extent (OK, I never worked at HR one so this is pure extrapolation) but there is something so sad about it all. I wish Happyrobot generated a revenue stream.

You'd think an assortment of super-smart, likeable, original people would pretty much guarantee a successful company, but as I learned from OpenCola, it doesn't often work that way.

I used to get all ranty about vulture capitalists and advertising firms commodifying original personal expression (we saw that a lot in the .com boners) but now I think everyone is retreating to the hills of steady mediocrity. And that is such crappity crap crap.
