Pony: lever des fonds
10.4.2002
After a week in French, my brain is making a lot of noise like an engine of a Ford pickup with a dysfunctional modulator (yes, after thinking it was the timing belt, the transmission, or the clutch, it was the modulator).
Here are some of my new words:
greve=strike
reseau=network
souslevement=fundraising
carrefour=crossroads, meeting
comportement=behaviour
moite=half
It is so funny. I don't even know how to say teaspoon in French, but I can talk about public disobedience and strikes.
I will be asking all of you to send me money soon. Consider yourself warned.
i went to Sarah's cinq au sept (post-work drinks) last night and met her coworkers from Gala film. I envy the ease with which people switch languages here.
When I feel like I don't understand something, I get very sarcastic. Which is not the way I normally behave, but I can't seem to cork it. So now, I am an inarticualte sarcastic person, but I have to say that it is gettign better. I understand way more today than Monday. And this will only get better. Now I am a bit sad that I will be going to India instead of French Africa. I could become bilingual at the end of it with tons of interesting franco-african and quebecois slang.
Anyone ever been to Bopal?
