We made dinner for my uncle and his wife on Sunday. We were a bit nervous about inviting people to eat in our backyard, cuz it was noisy post Taste of Little Italy and the neighbour's super friendly tomcat, Moishe, has been pestering us lately as we eat. But for an exotic urban backyard dinner experience, it was not that bad.
Wiild rice and basmati with wild mushrooms and onions and toasted peacans. mango salad (didn't really go), eggplant salad (roasted eggplant, red peppers, basil, balsamic vinegar, roasted garlic. Made leftovers into babaganouj). BBQ-ed, butterflied leg of lamb marinaded with Lucy Waverman recipe from the globe and mail (rosemary, garlic, lemon juice, lemon zest, salt and pepper). Fresh fig. Cuz it's pretty.
Dessert: cherry clafouti (abi gave me this idea) topped with fresh whipped cream.
Drink: Proseco to start and then a nice Italian red (I forgot the name).
This pic is from the dinner, but it doesn't explain anything. Except that maybe kiff and I like to cook dinner. And I thought we both looked fetching in this photo.
