Life in Canada, I tell ya!
Went up north to Ariel's cottage for the tail end of Canada Day Weekend. Adam and I spent Saturday sweating up a storm and shopping for cottage foodstuffs. Saturday night's thunderstorm did squat to cool down my apartment. We tossed and turned in sticky sheets all night before we left, the fan on full blast, cold washcloths on our foreheads. The next day in Minden, just when we had been most dreaming of jumping into a lake, there was this crazy arctic wind to greet us. But that is our country for you. Happy Canada day.
They rioted in Edmonton on Canada Day for no apparent reason. Seems like lots of beers, fireworks, and an extra day off work brings out the animal in us Canucks.
Mordecai Richler died last night. I read The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz (in highschool) and Son of a Smaller Hero (which I loved) in this otherwise awful Can Lit class at Condordia. Richler was a crusty, opinionated, cigar-smoking, Montrealer. And I think we need more of those in Canada, eh?
