Priority
It's funny how my journals work - and by journals, I could also say "my brain".
Here I am back from a whirlwind trip home for a funeral. I am physically and emotionally tired, but the only thing I want to write about is the funny thing that happened to my brother and I at a restaurant yesterday.

I did the same thing with that last post about Matt & Jackie get married when I lead off with the story of a guy being dragged down the street instead of my friends getting married and having me serve as their witness.

Here I am using the phrase "lead off" in regards to the Robot Journal.
Oh, look, I just capitalized that.

Robot Pride
This past weekend was Gay Pride Parade weekend about everywhere. My brother and I arrived in Atlanta Sunday afternoon and I had an hour to kill before going to the airport so we got some lunch at this cool little bar place that he knew about.

I guess we didn't look shabby enough, and we were both wearing fitted t-shirts and snazzy jeans - as we paid our bill, the waitress said, "you guys going to the park after this?"
My brother didn't really 'get' what she said and replied that he was taking me to the airport, blah blah.
We left.

As we were walking out to the car he suddenly exclaimed, "Oh no! She thought we were gay!" and then proceeded to explain that the Gay Pride parade thing was in the park today.
Ewww!
Not that there is anything wrong with that. I mean, except of course if it's your brother.

How was the parade?
Let me guess... Lots of groin thrusting?

FUNeral
The family and I attended George's funeral Saturday - sans my brother's wife and Mrs. Robot. It was the first time the family unit had spent time together in a long time - just like in olden days. Mom. Dad. Kid#1. Kid#2.
The service was lovely, but I expected nothing less from his fine family. George's parents had five kids, and with George being born much later then the others, he had always had brothers and sisters to fuss over him.

They invited everyone over to the house where they all grew up (and where one of his sisters now lives) and we hung out and remembered and caught up.

Oh, did I mention that the house is one of the coolest houses ever? As a child coming from a dumb American slash Methodist family with a house with normal height ceilings and goofball boring furniture... their home, which George's dutch architect father designed himself, was a fascinating crazy world full of cool pre-IKEA-esque furntiture and living rooms with two story tall ceilings (which they filled with equally tall trees at Christmas).

But, it was a good time, even though we were there for a funeral. I had a hard time keeping my emotions from running from "I am so happy to see you" to "Oh my gosh this is so sad".
And there was beer involved, so if I said anything stupid to anyone, well, sorry.

Up and Down
But, yea, ever since Matt & Jackie's wedding, it's been a real loony time. Their marriage. Hanging out with Adina and Chris. George's death. Mrs. Robot leaving for two weeks. Hanging out with my parents at home. Funerals. Catholic churches. Trying to finish this trackback thing on the robot (and like 100 other projects). Going to a mini high school reunion.
Oh, and did I mention that robot kitty has been waking me up every morning at 6am? Stands there on the bed and meows at me (even though she has plenty of food).

Maybe I'll fly out to SF and go up to that spa for a few days.
Mmmmmmmmmm mud bath.

Mrs. Robot: to Norway
She called last night from Ireland and even though they are working a ton, she seems to be having a good time. Her highlights so far:
1. A chicken jumped into their car
2. A farmer made them all drink some of his homemade 'moonshine'
3. A donkey stuck it's head in their car
4. The people who run the hotel are crazy
5. She's enjoying driving around on the other side of the street.

Today she is off to Copenhagen and then onto the wilds of rural Norway.
