CT Saturday we hopped a train (picture us jumping into a boxcar if you like) and traveled up to Connecticut to visit Lisa (of Lisa Says fame) and family. It was a swell time. We had monster cubano sandwhiches at a little Cuban grocery/butcher/restaurant place. Then there was fancy tea.
And then we met Ms. Ella (oh, and we got to see our pal Craig who happens to be married to Lisa and father of Ms. Ella).
She's a cutie and she and Mrs. Robot danced around the living room and she (Ella) did somersaults. There was chicken pot-pie for dinner and champagne and homemade carrot cake and board games and all was well.
Lisa buys her sugar in cube form.
Mattie Moo Mattie was doing well. She is a very toddler-tolerant dog.
CT Gangsta Riot On the way back from the CT, there was some teen riot on the Metro North. From Connecticut. I am not sure what happened as it was all on the back of the train and we were on the front, but we ended up having to get off the train and get on another while the paramedics carried people away and the cops rounded up about 20 guys and plopped them on the platform. Nice.
I suspect they were keeping it real... CT STYLE!
Del Posto Tuesday night was dinner at Del Posto. A very last minute thing with work people. We did the five course menu thing. I ate many very good things. We drank very good wine. The service was very good. The restaurant itself is very handsome. Very. Very. Very.
If I was you, I'd go there for dinner. Better yet, have someone else pay for it.
Korean Fried Chicken Right. So, if you haven't been harassed about this by me yet, I am in love with Korean-style Fried Chicken. Last Thursday night I attended a dinner rooftop dinner with some pals. We bought 5 or 6 bottles of rose' wine and ordered a few tons of chicken from Bon Bon Chicken, one of the current crop of Korean fried chicken joints. It was a slightly cool evening and we gorged. Covered in chicken and guzzling wine and water by the bucket (as the spicy ones are quite spicy). Watching the planes fly over and the clouds and the moon. Laughing at our Argentine co-worker as told us what sounds common farm animals make ("Dude. Cows do not make that noise. They go 'moo moo'").
Lovely.
But, the chicken. From what I can tell, it's not breaded. The skin is crispy and covered in an either sweet or spicy sauce (the spicy is *really* spicy, but in a good way). The chicken meat itself is very juicy and just about perfect.
At Bon Bon, they also offer chicken strips. They are good, but they naturally are missing the skin element, so I'd just skip those.
As far as what to drink with it? Beer would be nice. The rose' was good, although I might have gone with something white with a bit more residual sugar and body to maybe counter the spiciness. Or maybe a red. Something Beaujolais? Zinfandel/Primotivo?
I don't know. I guess I'll have to continue experimenting with it. Darn, eh?
Monday night, MattyJ and I went to Bon Bon and chomped on some chicken. "This is some good MF'n fried chicken" I think he liked it as well.
Tueday for lunch, a co-worker and I wandered down there as well. "Good MF'n chicken"
