.... and all I had was one measly frozen slice - that's not right!
Last week a friend of mine had a gathering for her newly passed kitty. It was sort of a memorial and birthday celebration for the Bear. I ended up bring a very large world famous S and S Cheesecake (it's a kosher cheesecake from a bakery up in Riverdale). On the box it states "unquestionably the finest cheesecake in all the land" and it is. I was working the day of the party and was supposed to go with Tricia but she overslept and missed it. I went alone with my cheesecake and had a good time but didn't have any cake.
I went back to S&S to pickup 2 small cakes to bring to the 2 Thanksgiving parties. On Thanksgiving Day I brought a cake to Tricia's were she cooked this awesome NON-MEAT Thanksgiving meal. Yes it is possible to have a non-meat Thanksgiving meal and it was so good. All the dishes has fake meat and either cream sauce or cheese. There was zucchini quiche, string bean casserole, broccoli casserole, stuffing with fake meat, fake sausage balls, mashed potatoes, dinner rolls and fake turkey slices. Out of all the dishes, the only questionable one had to have been the fake turkey slices - they sort of looked like bologna slices but they tasted real bad. I got to enjoy a slice of the cheesecake after we watched a bit of this really bad made for TV night of the living dead movie on the Sci-Fi channel subtitled "From the Rave to the Grave". The cake was still frozen a bit in the center but it was damn good dare I say unquestionably the finest cheesecake in all the land.
On Friday I went up to my sister's house with the 3rd cheesecake. She lives upstate about 15 minutes from Woodbury Commons. TIP for all you smart people - DO NOT go shopping on Black Friday at Woodbury Commons. I mean I know you think you are saving a buck but really - I heard that place opened at 12 midnight on Thursday night and it was PACKED. It took my bus over an hour to get into the commons drop people off and get out because of all the traffic up there. Crazy shoppers! Anyway my sister had so many cakes and pies already I forgot to get a slice of the cheesecake I brought before I left the next day. I must say though the chocolate pecan pie she made was a damn good substitute.
Saturday I went to Atlantic City to see Brian Setzer Orchestra with my other sister and her husband and their friends. Left AC a big winner with $69 - I stopped myself from buying fudge or salt water taffy as it IS the holidays and well I don't need the extra lbs although I would have liked a 2nd piece of that cheesecake. I guess I'll have to buy one for Christmas.
