Just in case you were thinking i had something against rain, I don't. I mean, I am from Vancouver, and I have rain in my blood, they say. Want proof? I have no desire whatsoever to revoke the poetic license of the following artists. I really like these songs, for example, and they ALL have rain in them.
"He's got the oil on his chain, for a ride in the rain No baloney Ride around on my bicycle like a pony I'm waving hi, hi, hi, hi, hi Gu-gu-gu-Gimme a scream Give me, give me the theme Of Tony"-Pixies
"Buckets of rain Buckets of tears Got all them buckets comin' out of my ears. Buckets of moonbeams in my hand, I got all the love, honey baby, You can stand."
The lyrics are a bit bombastic, perhaps, but i am forgiving when it comes to one of my favorite songs, Dylan's Visions of Johanna: "Ain't it just like the night to play tricks when you're tryin' to be so quiet? We sit here stranded, though we're all doin' our best to deny it And Louise holds a handful of rain, temptin' you to defy it Lights flicker from the opposite loft In this room the heat pipes just cough The country music station plays soft But there's nothing, really nothing to turn off Just Louise and her lover so entwined And these visions of Johanna that conquer my mind."
