So I stuck this up on robot filter yesterday, but I didn't post it here cuz it is pretty busy at work with the shorter week (Friday is Canada Day!). But the same-sex marriage bill passed in the house of commons Tuesday night.
This, despite the loud voices of people who think that somehow gay marriage legislation is going to force all of us into queer union (someone who shall remain nameless' mother actually said to him: "One thing leads to another - what's next, mothers marrying their sons?").
And fortunately for us in this case, it looks like one thing does lead to another. Let's celebrate! It looks like Spain has followed suit.
Spain passes Same Sex Marriage Legislation
"We were not the first, but I am sure we will not be the last," Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero told the chamber. "After us will come many other countries, driven, ladies and gentlemen, by two unstoppable forces: freedom and equality."
