You Rock!
This morning I was riding the train to work (as I am apt to do in the morning) and reading the happyrobot website on my portal robot device and only had time to read the latest four entries, but good golly were they good.
You people rock!

If you haven't read the following entries, do so now, because they are way better than the jibber-jabba I'm spewing today:

Questions Concerning Children

things girls say when they want you to find them attractive

John John
I am totally enjoying Bush's attacks on John Edwards - especially the experience part. This coming from the same man who had only governed the state of Texas before taking office (I'm overlooking the disastrous oil company he owned and the Texas Rangers).
Bush's skepticism about Edwards' experience was echoed yesterday in a conference call with Sen. Arlen Specter, which was arranged for Pennsylvania reporters by the Bush campaign.
"[His] experience in government is obviously very limited," Specter said. While describing Edwards as a friend and praising his intelligence, the Pennsylvania Republican, who's also up for re-election, maintained that Edwards' governmental record paled beside that of Cheney.
"[Edwards] has no experience on defense or foreign affairs," said Specter.

from the Post Gazette

now couldn't he of also said the following in 1999:
"[Bush] has no experience on defense or foreign affairs," said Specter.

As far as resume and experience, Edwards can't hold a candle to Cheney, but Edwards compared to Bush?
you know, i may be comparing apples to oranges, but i just find it ironic that Bush is going after someone who has close to the same amount of expereince Bush himself had when he ran for president

A valid question
"Can you tell me what's so great about Radiohead?"
Actually, I have asked that quite often. I have close friends who are huge Radiohead fans, and I still don't get what the appeal is.
Radiohead, to me, has always seemed like the Reader's Digest of alt-rock.
(meaning, that if you open them up, you'll find a column called 'Life in These United States')

Sufjan
I went to the free Sufjan Stevens show the other night at the seaport. It was a lovely evening, but honestly not the best place to see him play since his music is generally so quiet and peaceful.
Lots of tourist wandering around ("who's that?!") and hipsters in kelly green shirts.

Sudan
I am working on writing a little entry about Sudan, much in the same way I did with the "Let's go Liberia" I wrote a while back.
Sudan, so far, is really complicated. Much more so than Liberia, especially since they don't a have seemingly retarded crazy man who runs the country (or at least not one that I have come across).
Yet.

Hopefully I will have something soon, though.

Genocide?
Holy moly that makes me cranky.

Brklyn Brdg
After the Sufjan show, I rode across the bridge on my way home. Under the first support (column? What do you call that thing?) I saw a guy kneeling and proposing to his girlfriend.
Aww.
It made me love love.

Not So Far Rockawy
The Reba & Eric invited me to the beach on July 4th. We took the train out to Far Rockaway and had a fabulous time playing in the water. I think Eric and I stayed out for about an hour? Maybe hour and a half?
The water was nice, although initially very chilly, and the waves were good enough to do a lot of body surfing.

Afterwards, with a beer and some fine salami, I was quite content. Something about the ocean just fixes all my ailments.
Exfoliates me.

My favorite head hurting quote about Sudan
The war here is pretty simple to understand but gets difficult if you apply labels like Christian, Arab, Black or South.

There are Black Christians with Muslim names who live in the north and support the south. There are Muslim blacks in the south who fought for the north and are now fighting on the east side of the Nile under SPLA commanders for a Muslim leader.

People switch between religions, have biblical names like the Solomon Islanders and even practice some of the old animist religions when convenient. There are many people with Muslim, Christian and tribal names. There are many tribes, many refugees and plenty of political subgroups that are not worth getting into but will cause problems if the SPLA control the whole country.
