for me, christmas is all about the music. i have a growing collection of christmas cds that i break out just after thanksgiving and play them through new year. much of my collection is made up of great great great christmas card cds that pals william and julie send out. my all time favorite song is "mele kalikimaka", which is the hawaiian christmas song (eve, seriously, do hawaiians walk around singing this song the whole holiday season or just us mainlanders?) and this year for my first christmas in new england, i became privy to a great song that is old old old but, according to this wikipedia page, gaining cult status: dominick, the italian christmas donkey. how can you resist that polka-like beat and the hee haw hee haw lyrics?! plus, it mentions happyrobot home base brooklyn!
i'm also quite partial to anything on the muppet christmas cd. oh and my new kenny rogers and dolly parton "once upon a christmas" extravaganza. oh, squirrel nut zippers christmas cd is a must-have too. yay. christmas tunage!
and so, from my tantrum-throwing, pull-ups wearing, hot chocolate-drinking, candy-cane eating, paper-chain making, snowman-building, present-wrapping, "finding nemo"-watching, cookie-baking, christmas song-singing house to yours, i wish you a happy happy christmas-solstice-new year-monday-tuesday holiday filled with lots of laughs, good food, tasty drinks and everything you ever wish for.
